Solutions Engineer

## The Role

We're hiring a **Solutions Engineer** to be the technical hand on the shoulder for the teams evaluating and adopting Estuary. You'll sit between our customers and our product, turning a messy real-world data problem into a working pipeline on Flow, and turning what you learn in the field back into product direction. This is a customer-facing engineering role for someone who likes the moment the data finally starts moving.

## What You'll Do

- Partner with prospects during evaluations: scope their sources and destinations, design the capture and materialization, and get a real pipeline running on their data, not a slide
- Own technical proofs of concept end to end, from first call to "it's in production"
- Translate customer constraints (latency budgets, cost ceilings, deployment restrictions, schema drift) into architectures that actually hold up
- Be the voice of the field inside Estuary: feed recurring friction straight to product and engineering
- Write the occasional reference architecture or connector walkthrough that saves the next customer a week

## What We're Looking For

- Experience in a customer-facing technical role (solutions/sales engineering, technical consulting, or a data/platform engineering role you can tell stories about)
- Hands-on comfort with data movement: CDC, streaming, batch ETL/ELT, warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks), and SQL
- You can read someone's stack in a call and sketch the pipeline on the whiteboard before the call ends
- Clear writer and communicator; you make hard infrastructure feel simple to a mixed technical/business room

## Strong Advantages

Nice-to-haves, not strict requirements.

- Production time with Kafka, Debezium, Flink, or other streaming/CDC tooling
- Experience at an early-stage infrastructure startup where the SE also shaped the product
- Comfort with Python, TypeScript, or Go for in-flight transforms and glue

## Why This Role Is Special

You'll be one of the first dedicated solutions hires, which means you set how Estuary earns technical trust. The product is genuinely differentiated (one system for CDC, batch, and streaming instead of three stitched together), so your job is less "convince them it's possible" and more "show them how much simpler it gets."

## Location

New York, NY, hybrid. We like having the core team in the room a few days a week.
