## The Role
We're hiring an **Insurance Program Analyst** to help us build, manage, and sharpen the insurance programs behind Obie. You'll report to our Head of Rev Ops and Analytics and sit where insurance, data, technology, and strategy meet. The work is concrete: pull the numbers, read what they're telling us about a product or a state, and turn that into a recommendation a program leader can act on this quarter.
## What You'll Do
- Analyze product and portfolio performance across states, customer segments, and property types to surface trends, risks, and where we're leaving money on the table
- Support our insurance product managers and program leaders on rate revisions, new-state expansion, and product changes with the analysis that makes the call defensible
- Turn loss-ratio and premium data into clear answers, not another dashboard nobody opens
- Build the queries and reporting that let the team see portfolio health without waiting on a one-off pull every time
- Partner with underwriting and engineering so what we learn in the data actually changes the product
## What We're Looking For
- Strong SQL and comfort moving around real data (Python or a BI tool like Looker or Tableau a plus)
- Some exposure to insurance, reinsurance, or financial services — you know what a loss ratio is and why it moves
- You can take an open-ended business question and scope it into an analysis without being told every step
- A clear writer; you can hand a program leader a one-pager that drives a decision
## Strong Advantages
Nice-to-haves, not strict requirements.
- P&C experience, especially property or landlord lines
- You've touched rate filings, state expansion, or product pricing before
- Comfort using AI tools to move faster on the grunt work so you spend your time on the judgment
## Why This Role Is Special
Obie is young enough that your analysis moves the roadmap, not a slide deck that gets filed. You'll see a rate change you recommended go live in a state, and watch the portfolio respond. The questions are real P&C problems, and the team is small enough that good work is visible fast.
## Location
Chicago, IL, or remote in the US. The Chicago core runs a hybrid week.
## Next Steps
Tell us about an insurance or portfolio question you owned and what changed because of your analysis. One real example beats a polished resume here.
